My art is an exploration of the intersection between color, shape, and space, with a particular focus on the built environment. Inspired by Op Art and Hard-Edge Abstraction, I seek to create works that capture the essence of architecture through bold, graphic forms and a vibrant palette of colors.
In my paintings, I use simple shapes and geometric forms to distill the complex structures of buildings and urban landscapes into their essential elements. Through the use of color, I aim to create a sense of depth and movement, capturing the way that light interacts with different surfaces and textures to create a dynamic and ever-changing visual experience.
At the heart of my work is a fascination with the way in which the built environment can hold many realities. When we look up from the busy streets and bustling crowds, we enter a realm of calm and elegance. The intricate patterns and geometric shapes above us create a sense of order and balance, a world of pure form and color. Through my paintings, I seek to bring the viewer into a space of tranquility and harmony amidst the chaos of everyday life. My work invites you to look up, to explore the beauty and wonder of the world above, and to find peace and inspiration in the architectural forms that surround us.
Through my titles, I imagine the lives that are being lived in these spaces, the stories within these architectural forms. By combining an abstraction of the city with the imagined lives of its inhabitants, the viewer can contemplate the vibrancy and resilience of we who inhabit these buildings, our hopes and dreams, our struggles and triumphs, and the spaces we create for ourselves in the relentless push and pull of urban life.
